Alessandro Saluzzi

Alessandro Saluzzi (1590 - 1655/60) was active/lived in Italy.  Alessandro Saluzzi is known for Painting.

The paintings can be traced back to Alessandro Salucci's catalogue, whose rediscovery was due to Busiri Vici in 1962 (see A. Busiri Vici, Fantasie Architettoniche di Alessandro Salucci, in Capitolium, anno XXXVII, n. 12, December 1962). The artist is documented in Rome in 1628 when he worked with Andrea Sacchi and Pietro da Cortona on the frescoes of Villa Sacchetti, today Chigi, in Castel Fusano, but he soon embarked on an independent career receiving important public and private commissions, working in the destroyed Church of Sant'Elisabetta dei Fornari and in Santa Maria in Vallicella. His art is also influenced by the teachings of Viviano Codazzi but, as Sestieri well underlines, for obvious generational reasons ours was certainly a precursor of capriccio painting and a full participant in the baroque climate. Ghisolfi must have looked up to him and both, together with Codazzi, were an inspiration for Giovanni Paolo Pannini.
